Testimonials - private, public and commercial

We have on file thousands of written testimonies acquired from 1995 to 2007. It is obviously not possible to print even 1% of these written testimonies.

Public Praise

Read the speech from The Governor-General of Papua New Guinea when launching the PV Scheme of Self Reliance.

Private Praise

A sample of testimonies (edited) is included here just to demonstrated participants’ viewpoints of PV.

·         16 yrs at school is enough & I had gone to University level why do I have to get this course... I finally came & found this course to be what I’ve been looking for in life.’ ENB/PV 7/E1289/99

·         PV is good because it brings to the minds of simple people that its not only the educated people that can do businesses, they the simple people too can do the same, knowing that they are now viable. P 96.

·         I have participated in literally thousands of workshops, seminars, courses, in-service training in the last 41 years. None gave me anything much that could give me a clear insight into my personal life, those of my family, community & the nation. The workshop changed all that. I consider myself a better person now than before even though I have achieved a lot in my life.

·         Most people in PNG waste so much time, energy & resources because they do not have business cultures. Some even think of themselves as good-for-nothings. These thoughts lead them to non-productivity, and therefore, their lives are wasted. Many of us, mostly among those in authorities, always look outside for assistance even though the nation has so many resources...human, natural & physical. This attitude creates dependency & a beggar mentality, thus suppressing us & our capacity for mental growth...No wonder we continue to become prisoners & beggars amongst our riches. What we must do to revert this slave & beggar mentality around ...is to promote & expand PV throughout the nation, with particular emphasis on the grassroots. ENB/PV1/PM1102/98

·         This is God’s word in practical terms. PV is the answer to PNG’s Economic, Political & Social problems.TMM 96

·         PV is therefore timely to meet the challenge of the Church of Christ as it is becoming more challenging & urgent. This is the missing link. Thank God that He is now providing the other side of the need to ensure His plans & purpose for mankind is fulfilled. JP 96.

·         A thing like this can only come from God to bless His people & propel them into a new dimension of prosperity spiritually & physically & you happen to be set apart by the Holy Spirit for this special work. BO 96.

·         EDTC is the Gospel in practical application. Each topic is covered with scriptures. Thus it will bring *freedom to prisoners * recovery of sight to the blind * release to the oppressed.
It will bring the proud down; it will raise the poor or down-trodden up. If the EDTC vision is caught a ‘revolution’ only second to spiritual conversion will turn lives, situation inside out & right way up. SL 96.

·         The principles it conveys or teaches is scriptural & thus it encourages us....to come to grips with himself in finding his position in relation to his Creator (God) & his neighbours. This ....will certainly bring about FREEDOM to our people PT96.

·         Who will be St Paul to take the message to the gentiles. That God will help this man to preach the truth to the poor & captives...I am carrying the key from your hand to open the door of life to my family, community, province, nation & the whole world. I thank the Almighty for bringing PV as a key to open the door of my life with its true meaning that I have been waiting for. MB/PV1/TN733.

·         Thank you for bringing yourself down to our level, for sharing your understanding, for your vision & destiny for every Papua New Guinean. Thank you for encouraging us to have confidence, hope & faith in ourselves, as individuals & family to build the new Independent PNG we often dream about. PV is the foundation course & a must for all of us- this course is the missing link. I can only describe you as the modern Moses leading us ...grassroots out of captivity into the new Paradise Papua New Guinea. ESP/PV6/TTS28/97

·         After my husband died...I thought it was the end of everything. Before the course, I was always blaming my job & my children for the headaches & chest pain.... But after the first week of the course the pain just went off. Even though I claim myself as a good Christian, I never found real happiness until I attend this course... I can have real peace & joy within me.. NI/PV1/PT841/98

·         Mi tok tenkyu long God papa long salim dispela present ikam long peles long taim blg taim nogut..Mi tok tenkyu long Bikman antap long salim dispela man ikam long Siwai ..long stretim bek gutpela sindaun gen. NS/PV4/JM374/98

·         Mi pilim olsem God i makim yu long kam hia long givim gutpela save na tingting long mipela Bougainvilleans bikos longpela taim mipela istap aipas ...NS/PV4/MK360/98

·         This was the day I saw the light. Its not the light of the sun but a light out of a dark tunnel of burdens, struggles, pain, heartache & blindness. The school is revealing what the Bible is really talking to us about. A deeper meaning & understanding, a sense of relief as if you found something you’ve been looking for & connecting it with our creator. ENB/PV1/RM1128/98

PNG PORTS

PNG Ports Corporation is currently rolling out the PV Program to its staff throughout PNG.  Introduced in 2010 by Arietta Kairey Life Skills Coach of PNG Ports, the program has moved fast with 5 trainings conducted to date 02/02/11.

Improvements seen and comments made by staff who have attended the program:

We have gained more confidence.

Staff are more active members to their teams and now greatly contribute in meetings.

Staff are more committed and punctuality to work has improved.

Time management has improved amongst staff.

I believe one of our achievements in the past year was to introduce and implement the Personal Viability (PV) course in all 15 wards.

The courses are designed to teach our people how they can do practical things that can lead to self reliance.

Mr Marc Soipang, Chairman,

Lihir Mining Area Landowners’ Association (LMALA)

2003 report to the Community

This is how one participant described the business course.

Testimony by Betty Meli, OTML Business Development, P.O Box 93, Kiunga, Western Province.

I graduated with an accounting certificate from the Divine Word University in 1992 in Madang. Because I was one of the first top 5 students out of all the 350 graduands, I was fortunate to have a job straight after graduation. We didn’t need to apply for jobs as the corporate clients always automatically contact the school to offer jobs to top students of the year.

I was interviewed on the phone by OK Tedi Mining Treasury Department Manager Mr Nick Fraser and got employed straight after the telephone interview in February 1992. I worked as a Finance officer for 3 years and then got promoted to business development Accountant in 1996 till current.

In my 5 years of work as a business development officer, accountant, my responsibilities covered areas like: assisting businesses (local) set-up and keep proper records, make sure they comply with all statutory returns, provide business advice, help in business negotiations for best deals, making bank proposals, conducting training and awareness programs and all business assistance.

All these activities that I perform may look complicated but one thing for sure is I did not get my job satisfaction even though I helped them set up their businesses and helped in areas where they needed help, I was still not satisfied and I tried to find out what was actually wrong.

Now that I had the opportunity to attend the (EDTC) Business Course, I found the answer to my unsatisfactory performance. This course is unique and is the “BEST” because it teaches me not only how to start business but “How to run the Business”. Like Papa Sam’s tok piksa – Driver is in the car, he starts it but he doesn’t know how to drive the car and don’t even know where to go and how he’s going to go to his destination.

That was my problem because the business school that I attended only taught me to start the business and assist the business buy it NEVER taught me how to drive or run the business.

I am thankful and actually blessed to be given the opportunity to attend this Business Course. I thank OK Tedi and most of all my husband and children for bearing with me this 3 weeks opportunity to attend this course. I must comment that this is the TRUE BUSINESS COURSE that should be imparted to all business students/schools instead of existing current ones that are now in place.

Three weeks is far too short of a time for the REAL Business Course. It is presented in the most simplest method of teaching by MASTER TRAINER PAPA SAMUEL TAM with all his life’s experience to blend it with his teaching. I encourage all PV members who intend to run business or are already into business to attend this course. After attending this course I am confident that when I return to my work, I will definitely get full satisfaction in my job.
