PV
HomeSchool is a bridge between theory and practical. The PV HomeSchool is
designed to convert human resource into human assets. PV HomeSchool is a
family school where the whole family learn together by doing instead of
learning through listening & writing. PV HomeSchool is a controlled
environment where PV members practice PV lessons. These lessons are found in
the PV HomeSchool Focus and PV Culture.
The alternate, relevant education of the future is likely to be in “thinking, planning and doing”. In PV HomeSchool, participants do their own “thinking, planning & doing” to achieve their desired results within their own time frame. This is the actualization of family autonomy or self-reliance & financial independence. The PV system does not teach people what to think but how to think, plan & act. PV teaches people how to catch their own fish & become independent and self-reliant.
PV HomeSchool is designed to fast track the development of human resource into human assets.
PV HomeSchool is the bridge between theory and practical. This is where people learn to organize & use the knowledge of PV. PV trainers shall supervise families to implement their “Family Master Plan” to meet all family needs.
Thus, one of PV HomeSchool goals is to convert 50% of all PV participants into human assets.
The conversion of human resource into human assets is through a process that EDTC developed, called the PV Grading System. There are 4 levels of PV Grading.
A man of knowledge lives by acting, not by thinking about acting, nor by thinking about what he will think when he has finished acting. A man of knowledge chooses a path with heart and follows it. PV HomeSchool is learning by doing.
“When you hear something, you will forget it.
When you see something, you will remember it.
But not until you do something will you understand it”
There are two types of education. The first type is to put knowledge into students. The alternate is to draw out the best in students. PV HomeSchool is designed to draw out the best in everyone.
PV HomeSchool is for all who wish to attain self-reliance & financial independence including children, parents and institutions.
Why is it so hard to do something? People go to Church every week but why can’t we implement the written word of God? Why can’t we do what we say we are going to do? Why can’t we be on time? Why can’t the Government implement all its policies? Why can’t Government services reach the rural grassroots people? Why can’t business people deliver goods & services on time? Why do we mauswara all the time?
These are the habits of human liabilities.
Human development is no longer just a concept in PNG. The EDTC Personal Viability Training Course has made holistic human development a reality.
In 1994, we estimated that 5% of PV students is likely to implement what they have learnt from the EDTC Personal Viability Training Course. Our analysis in 2005 is that around 10% of PV students are using PV to improve their standard of living.
However, because of serious demand from various communities, such as East New Britain Provincial Government, Lihir Landowners Association, Churches, Education Department, etc, we need to increase the number of PV students, from 10% to 50%, to become personally viable. In other words, we need to make a deliberate and concerted effort to fast track the process of developing human resource into human assets for self, family & country. PV HomeSchool is designed to fast track the development of human assets.
The PV HomeSchool is designed to cater for the needs of the 90% rural population and the annual 80,000 school drop-outs.
Therefore, a PV HomeSchool is needed in every ward in Papua New Guinea as a minimum requirement. Eventually, it estimated that at least 20 PV HomeSchools shall be required in each province. This means a total of 400 PV HomeSchools in Papua New Guinea to cater for at least 4 million Papua New Guineans who cannot find formal employment or who are living below the poverty line.
To develop a healthy, wealthy, happy & wise society.
(a) To develop an alternate, relevant, practical & sustainable education system for all people especially for the unemployed, unemployable and rural people.
(b) To develop a conducive environment of LOVE, FAITH & HOPE to draw out the very best from within each unique individual.
“RESEARCH, STUDY, THINK, DECIDE, PLAN, TRAIN, PRACTICE, IMPLEMENT, FOLLOW THROUGH, REVIEW, REWARD & RECOGNITION”,
how to reach their goals within given time limits.
(One formal lesson per week + 6 days informal “doing” at home)
Each PV Home School has the capacity to conduct:
with 10 to 20 individual participants or families.
All students must have attended the EDTC Personal Viability Training Course and have met all official registration requirements.
The exception shall be children under the age of 18 years old whose parents must be officially registered PV Members.
PV HomeSchool FEES must be paid in full before participants are allowed to attend.
Absolutely no credit is to be given to anyone under any circumstances. People who want credit are LIABILITIES. The PV Home School is designed to covert HUMAN RESOURCE INTO HUMAN ASSETS and not the opposite. This means we can never reward incorrect behavior under any circumstances, as this is what makes a person a liability.
The focal lesson is that families must learn to invest sufficient time to learn through experience (training & practice). This is crucial to the success of the PV Home School program.
Trainers must make sure families THINK BIG BUT MUST SET SMALL GOALS INITIALLY to make sure we succeed. If families fail, it is likely that they have set targets that are too high and unobtainable.
PV Home School lessons must be practical. The only part that is theoretical is the planning stage but the facts used for planning must be current, actual figures. Source of information must also be recorded so that relevant information can be checked.
EDTC PV TRAINERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THE WORK OF PARTICIPANTS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. We must promote self-reliance at all times.
Lessons should be given with “physical” tools or aids. For example when we are talking about money, we must use actual money to teach (not with pen and paper).
When we talk about budgeting, we use bamboo piggy banks (marked with name of expense item, e.g. FOOD) to distribute income as money comes into the family. There should be 14 Bamboo Piggy Banks.
The duration of lessons is entirely dependent on the progress of learning. Some families will no doubt learn quickly or act quickly whilst the majority will find it difficult to perform according to plan. Others will find it difficult to keep records. However, the minimum duration of the PV Home School lessons should be 16 weeks or 4 months.
